John V. McCarthy AO, FRICS - Chairman
John V. McCarthy is widely recognised as an industry leader. He has a significant breadth of experience across various commercial and industry disciplines. He enjoys a close working relationship with major banks, superannuation funds, institutional investors, financiers and senior professionals and property analysts, as well as many industry bodies.
John served as inaugral Chair of ASBEC (Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council). He is Australia's first industry representative on the International Board of the CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction or "Conseil International du Batiment") and in 2010 was appointed its Chairman.
He is Past National President of the Property Council of Australia.
In 2009, John was awarded the Order of Australia.
John has over 15 years experience in strategy and strategic mergers and acquisitions across a range of industries including financial services, infrastructure, transportation and energy, both in Australia and overseas. Among his achievements was growing a rail infrastructure development company from standstill to a multi million dollar corporation and securing the first ever unsolicited public/private partnership in rail in Queensland to build a new rail corridor. He has been successful in the establishment of advisory and financial practices in Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore and has had a 12 year professional career with KPMG both in Australia and the UK. He is currently the Director and CEO of Australian Transport & Energy Corridor Limited, Director of TFG International Pty Limited, Director of Surat Basin Rail Pty Limited and Director of Australian Inland Rail Expressway Pty Limited.
Paul was a Partner in the Sydney office of Mallesons Stephen Jaques until 30 June 2007 having been with the firm for some 35 years. In practice, he has handled all forms of major commercial property related transactions and, more importantly, worked with clients on strategic and commercial advice. Paul was the lead Partner for major clients including Olympic Co-ordination Authority (OCA), Sydney Airport, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority (SHFA), Landcom and more recently the Northern Territory Government on redeveloping the Darwin City Waterfront, Sydney Water on the proposed Desalination Project and Sydney Water’s relocation of its headquarters to Parramatta. He was Chairman of the firm’s board from December 1991 until February 1995 and Chairman of the Firm Partnership Committee from February 2005 until February 2007.
Victor van Bommel
Victor has over 15 years’ experience in capital markets with a very well established network in the European real estate sector. After his 15 year tenure at Goldman Sachs he founded the investment management company Orange Capital Partners in 2014. Orange Capital Partners is one of the leading residential investors in Amsterdam with a portfolio in excess of USD$400mn Prior to launching OCP Victor spent 14 years at Goldman Sachs in London. In his latest role he was responsible for the global distribution of real estate equity- and debt products, notably the successful IPOs of the German residential companies GSW (USD$700mn) and LEG (USD$1.8b). Before this Victor ran the Dutch institutional equities business at Goldman Sachs, and he was a real estate equity analyst.
